GREAT LEARNERS MAT TRUSTEES

 

Rob Withers

Chair of Board of Trustees    

                                                            

Rob Withers has been a community governor of Great Missenden School since 2013 and became chair of the MAT board in January 2017. Rob has a background in engineering and IT. Having graduated in engineering, he worked for Anderson Consulting, Coca-Cola Schweppes and Amerada Hess before starting his own internet business in 1998. He has lived in the area for nearly 25 years and is married with 3 children. He enjoys sailing and cycling. In addition to MAT duties he is numeracy governor and sits on the Finance and      Teaching and Learning Committees of Great Missenden School.                                                         

 

 

 

Rozalyn Thomson

Executive Director, Great Learners Trust  

 

Rozalyn has worked in education as a teacher and an adviser in London, Devon and Buckinghamshire. She has been a Head Teacher since 2003, and became Director of the Trust in 2017. Under her leadership Great Missenden was graded Outstanding in every category from 2006 to 2017. Great Missenden became a National Support School in 2016 and Rozalyn is a National Leader of Education. The success of the MAT is built on a strong and experienced team focused on high expectations, accelerated learning and outward-facing school improvement.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

David Bushnell

MAT Trustee for IT and Communications

 

David is an experienced primary practitioner, currently Deputy Head at an IAPS Preparatory School in Buckinghamshire. David brings a background in corporate IT and education, with over 14 years of teaching in a primary setting. David lives in Wooburn Green with his partner and son, not yet of school age. Away from MAT duties David is a sports enthusiast and enjoys playing golf and cricket in particular.

David joined the Trustees in October 2017 and is a serving Governor at The Meadows School in Wooburn Green.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Linda Hodgkinson

Trustee for Premises and Policies

 

Linda has been in education for most of her working life but she started out in the oil industry in Houston, Texas as a micropaleontologist after completion of a Master’s degree. Linda has worked in education both at secondary and university level. For many years she worked at The Open University, initially in the Faculty of Science and later as part of a team working on curriculum design. Linda has been a Governor at Great Kimble Church of England School for 4 years and is currently vice-chair of the Board.

 

Linda has lived in the local area for over 15 years and has a pony, Harvey, who lives next door and helps keep her fit. Linda also enjoys gardening and helping to create beautiful interiors.

 

 

 

 

 

Kate Jarvis

Trustee for HR, Personnel, Safeguarding

 

Kate has been a parent governor of Great Missenden School since 2013 and become Co-Vice Chair in 2016. Kate has a special interest in education for children with special needs and is the governor responsible for SEN, Safeguarding, PSHE and the School Council. Kate chairs the Pay & Personnel committee and sits on the Extended Schools committee. She qualified as a solicitor with Freshfields and then spent a number of years working in the music and film industry before heading up the legal and regulatory teams at O2. She subsequently became a board director of Telefonica Europe and more recently as Director of Business Affairs for Telefonica Digital she managed a global team responsible for supporting all aspects of corporate, commercial and HR activities. She is currently Chair of the Telefonica UK Pension Trustee Board and sits as an independent trustee on the pension trustee board of Sir Robert McAlpine Limited. Kate lives in Little Kingshill with her husband and two boys.

 

John Killigrew

Finance Trustee

 

John Killigrew is the MAT Trustee for Finance. He focuses on the financial systems, controls and procedures of the Trust and the schools therein as well as monitoring the financial aspects of large projects and annual income/expenditure. John qualified as a chartered accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2000 and spent time in their UK (Norwich, London) and Canada (Toronto) offices providing Audit, Assurance and Transaction services to a client base across a number of industries including Education. He has worked in the Finance team at Amazon for the last seven years. John lives in the local area with his wife and two children and coaches children to play Football and Rugby in his spare time.

 

Rose Lindsay

Trustee for Teaching and Learning

 

Rose has been working in education for 35 years, both as a teacher and a senior leader, in state secondary schools. Since 1982, she has worked in many different educational settings: grammar, comprehensive and upper schools, a Pupil Referral Unit and a College of Further Education.

 

Rose qualified in English Literature at London University and gained her PGCE at Homerton College, Cambridge, following this with a Masters in Education at Oxford Brookes. Local schools she has taught in include The Misbourne, Cavendish School in Hemel Hempstead and Holmer Green Senior School, where she was Assistant Head.

 

In 2014 Rose became Head of English across the four sites which make up ‘Aspire’, the county secondary Pupil Referral Unit. This latter post gave Rose considerable insights into the challenges some young people experience in their educational careers and the ways teachers can work to help students stay on track in education.

 

Rose is currently employed with the Reintegration and Exclusions team at Bucks County Council, working with a range of local secondary schools and their governing bodies. She is a Visiting Tutor for the Astra Learning Alliance, a Teacher-Training organisation. Rose has a great interest in keeping young people in education and ensuring that opportunities remain open to them.

 

Rose lives in Princes Risborough with her husband and has two adult sons. Aside from reading widely, she loves leading an active life, enjoying running, tennis and attempting to grow vegetables.

 

Sarah McIntyre

Legal Trustee

 

Sarah has experience of sales and marketing within the computer industry. More recently Sarah has held a number of roles within the voluntary sector including volunteering with Aylesbury Citizens Advice Bureau and Communities Empowerment Network which assists children being excluded from mainstream schools. She is a Regional judge for the interschool debating competition “Debating Matters”. In 2017 Sarah completed a law degree and the Bar Professional Training Course at BPP University in London.

 

Sarah lives in South Heath with her family and enjoys playing tennis and messing about in boats.

 

 

 

Richard Thompson              

MAT Trustee for Academies’ Performance

 

Richard is the MAT Trustee for Academies Performance. He focuses on the academic performance of all children in the GM Trust, currently comprising Great Missenden School and Princes Risborough Primary School. Richard works with the Executive Head and the schools' local governing bodies to review the progress and achievement of pupils, and makes recommendations to the Board of Trustees for further improvements.

 Richard was a governor at Princes Risborough Primary School for four years, serving three years as Chair of Governors. He has two sons at the school. Richard works as a civil servant at the Home Office in London and in his spare time is a keen cyclist

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

David Ward

Trustee for Business and Marketing

 

David has over 35 years experience in the UK book publishing industry. He was Group UK Sales Director of Bloomsbury Publishing PLC, part of the team that grew the company from a small independent literary publisher founded in 1986 to the multi-national it is today. He served as Executive Director on the PLC Board. He has worked with such diverse authors as Margaret Atwood , Sophie Dahl and Tom Kerridge and on all the Harry Potter titles from the very first publication of Harry Potter and the Philosoper’s Stone in 1997.

 

He has lived in Little Kingshill for over 14 years, is married with three grown up children, one of whom attended Great Missenden CE Combined School . He has a keen interest in music, both live and recorded, and is often found in second hand record shops.
