Weekly Update 02/11/18

What a busy week we have had following the half term holiday! We hope you all enjoyed the week off and found some time to relax.

On Monday we hosted a staff training session with our colleagues from Wooburn Green Primary School. This was a fantastic event with a wealth of opportunities for staff development and sharing good practice. As members of The Great Learners Trust we benefit from many amazing opportunities and links such as these.

On Tuesday we welcomed all of our children back to school. As always it was lovely to be greeted by a sea of happy, smiling children and families. We have also welcomed Ruby, Roxy and Siobhan to our school. We hope that you will all be very happy here.

Please remember that the PTA have arranged a Bag2School collection on Wednesday 7th November, please bring in your bags to the front of school (under the tree) before 9am. You should have received a collection bag via your child ready for you to fill with second-hand clothing. Please see https://bag2school.com/what-we-collect for full details of what you can put in your bag.

Bag2School collect the bags and pay into school funds based on the weight of what we have, so the more we can collect, the more we can raise! If you need further information please see www.bag2school.com or contact the PTA on prprimarypta@gmail.com . If you need extra bags, please ask at the School reception desk.

Well done to our lovely Year 5 and 6 boy’s football team who represented the school in the district cup on Saturday 20th October. This is the furthest the school has ever got in this competition and we are so proud of how the children played and the sportsmanship they demonstrated. Thank you to all of the parents and grandparents who gave up their day to support our school.

Our local community have been truly amazing in what has been a tricky time. We would like to say a big Thank You to our parents, EAC, the Rotary Club, Health Tech, Risborough Rangers and the Town Council. These people have all shown such friendship and generosity to our school in many ways. Thank You.

Thank you also to Mrs Kent and our Local Governing Board for their unwavering support. Our children and staff are lucky to have such a formidable group of people overseeing their school.

Our Email migration is now complete. We are aware that some messages may have been sent to our old email system so please contact us again if you need to. The school office address has changed to office@prpglt.co.uk so please get in touch if you have any questions. Thank you for your patience during this transition.

Free online safety workshop for parents and carers:

Muddled by Minecraft or rattled by Roblox? NSPCC and O2 are running an hour-long interactive workshop with tips, tools and advice on how to keep your child safe online. Talking about online safety with your child doesn’t need to be difficult –build your confidence to have those important conversations, get to know your child’s online world and learn where to go for help and advice.

The workshop will take place at 2pm on Wednesday 7th November in the school hall. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity!

Our brilliant Family Learning sessions begin again on Monday 5th November. The sessions are aimed at parents of children in Early Years and Key Stage One (Years 1 and 2). The aim of the session is to help parents support children with their learning. These sessions will have an English focus. The classes run from 12.30pm till 2.30pm in the school. This is a great opportunity to work alongside your child. If you are interested please contact the office, Mrs Bowen or Mrs McCleary by Monday morning.

We are very excited that our school is starting an orchestra. This will be an opportunity for instrumentalists to come and play as part of a group. The orchestra will be meeting and rehearsing on Thursday mornings from 8.30-9.00am starting on the 8th November 2018. We would like to make this an initiative that is open to all members of the school community, so any parents/carers out there who would like to join would also be very welcome. Whether you are an experienced player or a 'rusty' one it would be great to have your support. Please let Mrs Rowlinson know if you or your child might be interested in coming.

This term is always busy with our Nativity, Christmas Fair and festive events and activities. Please keep a close eye on the website for dates and times.

Have a lovely weekend.
