This week we have been feeling festive.
On Monday our Year 5 children treated us to an Advent assembly. This was a fantastic opportunity for the children to practice their public speaking in front of a large audience. The assembly helped us understand some Christmas traditions including why we have Advent calendars.
Our two school rock bands also performed on Monday. Children and parents were treated to a mini concert in which The Seven Spies (Key Stage 1 band) and The Looney Tunes (Key Stage 2 band) played their pieces brilliantly. A flyer has come home about Rock Steady if this is something that your child(ren) would like to do in the new year.
We welcomed lots of visitors to the school on Tuesday morning. All of the Head Teachers from The Great Learners Trust joined us to celebrate this terms successes and to plan for the year ahead. It is lovely to be part of a MAT that share ideas and skills so effectively. We have many more exciting collaborations penciled in for the future.
The school is looking beautifully decorated ahead of Christmas. All classes participated in 'decoration afternoon' on Tuesday in which they made decorations and items to bring home.
Some of our Year 5 and 6 children ventured to Naphill and Walters Ash School on Tuesday to compete in a Football Tournament. The team were amazing and came second overall out of all of the teams. They have their next competition in January. Well done to all involved and thank you to the parents for your help with transport and cheering from the sidelines!
It has been a busy week for sports! The children walked to Princes Risborough Secondary School on Wednesday and this afternoon for Uni Hock events. We strive to give as many children as possible the opportunity to participate in off site sporting activities. This can prove frustrating at times as some children are trying sports for the first time but we feel that the experience is valuable. Raising participation in Sports for girls and boys is a vital part of our sports development plan.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for Music and Mince Pies on Wednesday evening. We were very proud of our newly formed Orchestra who made their first public performance performing two Christmas pieces. The choir also sang beautifully, accompanied by our staff, parents and guests. Thank you also to our PTA for the tasty refreshments!
Yesterday our School Choir visited Windsor Lodge to sing for our friends there. This time of year is all about friends and family and it is a pleasure to be able to spread Christmas Joy around the town.
Our full Nativity rehearsal was a triumph. We are all looking forward to opening the hall doors next week for our four performances.
Mrs Baughan met with some of our neighbours and local policing team this week. Please can all visitors and parents who park around the school area be considerate and wherever possible avoid parking in Berndene Rise. We have witnessed some dangerous parking which would prevent an emergency vehicle from accessing the close. Please also keep children with you as you leave the school site - the dangerous parking means that places to cross the road safely are limited.
Next week we will all be wearing Christmas themed Mufti on Friday in exchange for a tombola prize.
Have a lovely weekend.
