Weekly Update 09/03/18

Yesterday was one of my best days .... ever!!!’ We think this quote from a Year 2 child pretty much sums up World Book Day! We had a great day, lots of awards in assembly, a book quiz, teacher swap and the most amazing costumes. Thank you to everyone for the effort made with costumes and to Mrs Haydon for her organisation. We all looked brilliant.

Well done to our sports teams this week- especially the Year 5/6 rugby team. You all make us very proud. A great effort by all concerned.

On the theme of sport- hopefully you saw the photo on our Face Book page of our new gym mats and equipment. Our hall looks great and gymnastics was even better than normal.

Our rehearsals for Schools in Harmony are well under way. Our Year 4 and 5 children are in fine voice and our musicians in tune. We can’t wait for the performance.

This week we welcome Brody and Mia to our school. We hope that you will be very happy here and know that you have already made lots of new friends.

Our travelling book fair has been a great success. It’s not too late to visit after school today.

Sadly we have had another attempted break in to our shed. Our staff and PTA work so hard to provide for our children and school. If you have any information about this please contact the school. The police have been informed.

Tesco have been very kind in donating groceries to our school on a weekly basis. We are now saving for a chest freezer to store food for longer. If anyone can help with this please contact Mrs Baughan.

We are now looking forward to our Easter Fair. There will be a mufti day on Friday 23 March to support this event. The fair will be on Thursday 29 March at 1.30pm as this is when we finish school for the Easter break. Lots more information to follow.

Your child will be bringing a polystyrene egg home to decorate. We are joining the town in decorating the trees with eggs again this year. We have been asked not to attach ribbon etc this year as the council will be using wire to hang the eggs. Please make them as weather and water resistant as possible. The eggs looked amazing last year and we are keen to show the amazing talent that we have in PRPS.

Our local CO-OP is also keen to support our school. They are running a ‘design an Easter themed card’ competition. This is open to all children and there are prizes for the winning entries. Please bring all entries (as many as you want!) to the main reception in school by Wednesday 28 March and they will be taken to the CO-OP to be judged and displayed. Good luck to all.

Today our Parent Forum and School Council got together to discuss some brilliant ideas. The notes from this and the last Parent Forum will be included in a future update. Our children love the opportunity to share ideas with our parents and today was no exception.

We wish you a lovely, fun filled weekend.
