It has been lovely to see the range of opportunities available to our children this week.
On Monday we had an assembly on Road Safety - this is particularly important as the number of Year 5 and 6 children walking to and from school alone increases.
Please talk with your child(ren) about remaining safe while walking to and from school. Unfortunately we have had reports of children not looking when crossing etc. It is vital that all children remain sensible and understand the potential risks.
On Tuesday Mrs Mitchell from The Great Learners Trust joined us to look at our English provision and teaching. As always the children spoke confidently and were proud to show off their work and knowledge.
The Year 4 children left for Dell Farm on Wednesday. The excitement at the farm was contagious! The children and staff have all had an amazing time and have participated in workshops and activities both in Whipsnade Zoo and Dell Farm. We are looking forward to catching up with the stories on Monday. Thank you to all of the staff that made this trip possible.
Yesterday, Health Tec joined Year 5 and 6 for their second session of first aid. This week the children learned about how to care for different ages and how our health needs change over time. They had the opportunity to utilise lots of state of the art equipment. Once again, we would like to thank Kerry and Adam from Health Tec for their time and for the brilliant sessions they have provided.
On Saturday we had the pleasure of supporting the Hemley Hillbillies at their ‘gig’ at Tesco. This week they have presented the school with over £200! Thank you to the Hillbillies - we are so grateful for your support and amazing talents.
Thank you also to all of the members of our community that supported the recent ‘Just Giving’ page that Mrs Morby set up. We are completely humbled and quite taken aback by the amount raised and the generosity shown. The money will help the school hugely and will be used to ensure there is extra security at the school. We are very lucky to live and work in such a wonderful community- let’s not lose sight of all of the wonderful things that we can achieve and access.
Don’t forget if you would like to join your child for Christmas lunch, please book by Monday 3rd December on SchoolGateway.
We have a pair of football boots that have been left in the school, if you have lost a pair, please see reception.
The weather has certainly taken a turn so please remember to send your children to school with warm clothes, a coat, hat and gloves each day. They also need an outdoor PE kit. The weather is bitter and children need to be warm and dry.
Don’t forget the school photographer will here on Tuesday 27th, so remind the children to wear their best smiles!
A few key dates for you to remember as we approach Christmas!
Have a lovely weekend and stay warm.
