This week has flown by!
We started by welcoming the Ark Farm on Monday who were visiting pupils in Key Stage One. All of the children had a fantastic time and learnt many facts about the animals and farm jobs. They were able to pet and feed the animals which really inspired the children back in the classroom!
The children in Key Stage 2 have started their new swimming lessons and the feedback from the instructors has been very positive!
Some of you will have noticed a distinct difference in the temperature in school. We are happy to report that the engineers have almost completed their work. Classrooms all have fully operational heating and all that remains are a few corridors, the hall and the reception area! Thank you for your patience during this time.
We endeavour to provide our pupils with excellent opportunities that inspire learning, creative thinking and skills for life. This includes visitors to the school, school trips, swimming and more. With Government cut backs as they are, we are no longer in a position where we can afford to subsidise the cost of these events. This means that we are wholly reliant on parents contributing towards these costs – we would really hate to have to cancel any event due to insufficient contributions, but the reality is that without you we cannot provide these wonderful experiences.
We hope that you agree that by organising these events for your children, they gain a love of learning, the opportunity to experience new things, the chance to obtain new found skills as well as inspiring their future dreams and ambitions. We wholeheartedly thank you for the support you as parents have given us by contributing towards these types of activities. We do however appeal to those parents who may have in the past chosen not to contribute, for various reasons. Please support us in giving your child the best educational opportunities we can by contributing towards the costs of these events.
Could all of the parents that use the drop off use the same point in front of the main entry gate. This is to avoid children being dropped off opposite the Zig Zags or actually on the Zig Zags. Our aim is to keep the traffic flowing smoothly on Wellington Avenue and therefore ensuring that random parked cars does not negatively affect this. Your co-operation with this is extremely appreciated.
Mrs Thomson (Executive Headteacher of the Great Missenden Trust) has been in school two days this week in her attempt to learn as much as possible about Princes Risborough Primary and also meet the staff and children in classrooms and around the school. On Monday she will carry out the assembly and inform the children further facts about Growth Mindsets. Displays are popping up around the school on the same subject and please be aware that we need you as parents to also understand fully the Growth Mindset concept. On Tuesday 31st January Mrs Thomson and I will be running an evening session at 7.00pm to inform parents.
Another important date for your diary if you have a year 6 pupil is Tuesday 17th January at 7.00pm. This is an important meeting again to inform parents about the Summer SATs tests. There will be an opportunity for you to have a go at a past Year 6 paper, optional of course. It is crucial that you are clear about the high expectation of these tests that you could not possibly know without this information.
We remind you to please keep an eye on the school website, Bucks web page and our Facebook page for up to date information and take extra time and care in these current weather conditions.
