Weekly Update 16/12/2016

As we write the last weekly update for 2016 it is a time to reflect on the past year.  What a journey we’ve had from this time last year!  We have had a great year full of successes and we have really appreciated the support our parents and carers have showed us, so thank you!

There has been an article this week in the news about our school and the future Multi Academy Trust Partnership with Great Missenden CE School. The paper have chosen to show this in a somewhat negative light and we are so disappointed that we were not contacted to share our views before the full article was published.

The article was originally written to celebrate our future and to recognise the hard work and progress that the school has made. Unfortunately the headline is negative and what has been published was not what was discussed with the journalist at the time. We feel that they have tried to sensationalise a now out of date story.

We would encourage you all to read the complete article in order to understand the true tone of the report. We know that the school is rapidly improving and that this view has been supported recently by Buckinghamshire's Head of Schools who judged us as a ‘Good’ school. We thank you as always for your support and would welcome any comments or feedback about this article.   Please refer to the letter from our Chair of Governors that is available on our website under Parents/letters.

This week we have been treated to the amazing Music and Mince Pies, many Choir events and 3 performances of the Nativity! These fantastic activities have helped us to get into the festive spirit!

The children that have participated in these events never fail to amaze us. Their enthusiasm and talents shine through and we know that you are as proud as we are of them. A big thanks to all of the staff for their hard work at this busy time. None of this would be possible without their support and dedication.

Thank you to all that attended the Christmas Lunch on Wednesday. It was a lovely event that was enjoyed by over 250 people! This is definitely something that we would look to repeat next year. Again the staff worked incredibly hard and we know that this is very much appreciated!

We have been alerted to some very dangerous driving on Wellington Avenue and the surrounding area. In one incident a car mounted the curb where children were walking after leaving school at the end of the day. Please do think about the possible consequences when driving and parking near the school and remind your children about road safety.  Please take care when coming to and from school.

Today we have celebrated the end of term with party clothes, parties, quizzes and craft activities. All of the children deserve a chance to relax and enjoy each other's company and the atmosphere was smashing!

We also held an assembly this morning in which our Sports Stars for the term were announced. The attendance draw also took place and Rueben Thay was the winner of the bike for this term!  All children collect house points within school and there were 12 children in line to win the House Point cup. The winner (randomly picked) was Hollie Worley!

Well done to all of the children that have received an award today.

On Tuesday 20th December we are going to have a visit from two members of the England Women's Football team. All children will have an opportunity to meet them, have their photos taken and ask them questions. Again we are very lucky to have so many exciting visitors in school!

The school closes at 1.15pm on Tuesday 20th December 2016. The PTA Christmas Fair will be in the school from 1.15pm and we would love to see you all there!

At this point it just leaves us to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We hope that you are able to relax and enjoy some quality family time.

We would like to thank you, the staff and Governors for all of your support in 2016 and look forward to seeing the children back in school on Thursday 5th January 2017.
