Weekly Update 17/03/2017

And yet another week has flown by and we are fast approaching Easter holidays!

The year 5 and 6 children have been practising for their ECHOES performance on Monday.  They really sound beautiful and we wish them all the best of luck for their performance at the Royal Albert Hall on Monday!

Year 6 will be visiting Hazard Alley on Tuesday as part of their transitional work.  It looks to be a fun packed day!  The school nurse will also be visiting Year 6 pupils next week to carry out height and weight checks.

Youth Art competition sponsored by Risborough Gallery and Art & Office

An exhibition of the best paintings will be shown at Risborough Gallery, 17 Duke Street, Princes Risborough from Monday 10th to Saturday 22nd April (10am-4pm).  Do come and see the creativity of our local young people!  Free entry!    All entries are by pupils of the following local schools:  Princes Risborough, Princes Risborough Primary School, St Johns Combined, Lacey Green, Longwick and St Theresas.

We are so pleased to announce that we have appointed a new caterer who is starting with us on 18th April!  DOLCE have been carefully selected to provide our pupils with healthy, fun and filling meals!  We will be holding a taster session on Thursday 30th March from 2.45pm until 3.30pm, so please come along and bring your child after you’ve collected them and try some samples for yourself!  There has been a small increase to the cost of meals to £2.50 which still represents excellent value for money.    Pupils will now have much more choice for main meals and a wonderful refillable salad bar which they can help themselves too.  We really hope your child enjoys the new meals!

You do need to be aware that we will no longer have the facility to book school meals for the children as this is entirely up to you to do.    You can do this from a webpage or by downloading the Live Kitchen app (information will be sent to you once we pass over your email address to DOLCE).  Parents entitled to free school meals must still create an account, and choose meal options for their child!  You will not be charged but this allows the Chef to collate numbers for meal preferences.

We are sending home a letter today from DOLCE with an information flyer about ‘Live Kitchen’ – the website used to order meals.

Our year 3 and 4 pupils will be taking part in Roman Day on Thursday 30th March.  Pupils have been invited to dress up in authentic Roman dress and we can’t wait for them to enjoy the day!

Children have been given a polystyrene egg to decorate for their home learning.  The eggs must be returned to school by Wednesday next week (22nd March).  They will be used on a number of Easter Trees at Princes Risborough Primary School, Great Missenden School and in Princes Risborough Town.  The instructions have also been sent home and there are examples online.  We look forward to seeing all the original and creative ideas!

On Friday 24th March its Red Nose Day!  We will be supporting Comic Relief by asking children to donate £1 to wear a hat, a wig or just crazy hair to school on that day!  Children still need to wear their normal uniform.  Red noses are positively encouraged!

We hope you all get some sunshine this weekend to enjoy!
