Firstly we would like to thank you all for sponsoring your children for the Sports 4 Schools event that the children took part in! They had such a great day taking part in activities and spending time with Luke Delahunty. We have raised an amazing £1539 altogether! The school receives £895 towards Sports equipment so thank you!
On Tuesday 28th March, we will be practising for our School Sports day. This means every class will be participating in sports events on the day so we kindly request that you ensure your child has a PE Kit in school and trainers/plimsolls as they will be on the field. We will confirm the date of Sports Day in the near future.
Thank you to the children who took part in the Rotary competition, we have selected 10 entries to be displayed at the gallery in Duke Street! Do pop along to view the art work of local children!
Thank you to all of the children (and parents!) who completed our egg based home learning this week. Please pop into our entrance hall to see some amazing examples of the decorated eggs! The eggs will be added to both the Easter Tree in School (with eggs from some of the children from Great Missenden CofE School) and the Easter Tree in Princes Risborough Town. Nicola Mackinnon from the Town Council needs a great deal of support and step ladders to assist in the decoration of the Tree which will be situated outside of the McColls news agents and Marks and Spencer on Wednesday 29th March at 9.30am. If you are able to help, please contact the Town Council via their webpage http://www.princesrisborough.com/contact.html
On Monday this week, some of our Year 5 and 6 children attended the Echoes Concert at the Royal Albert Hall. We cannot explain just how proud we are of the children and how magical the experience was. Thank you to all that went to support the event and to the staff who worked so hard in the preparation. We shared one of the video’s on our Facebook Page and await the arrival of the DVD!
Year 6 had no time to relax as on Tuesday this week, they all visited Hazard Alley. The feedback has been fantastic and one of the children ‘couldn’t believe how real the activities were’. The children learnt how to react in many different situations and how to keep themselves safe as they move up to secondary school. The children were a credit to us and members of staff from the venue commented on how amazingly well our children behaved!.
On Wednesday, our new teacher Mr Jackson (who is covering Mrs Tomlin’s class whilst she is on maternity leave) joined us for the day. The children and staff were very welcoming and he had a smashing time in Year 4! We are really looking forward to working with him after Easter!
Yesterday, three of our Governors spent the morning in school looking at our SMSC provision. They watched the house assembly and were very impressed by our House Captains who now run these assemblies all by themselves! They then toured the school and joined us at the School Council meeting. It was a successful morning and the feedback was extremely positive.
On Thursday Mrs Howlett and Mrs Niven took some Year 3 and 4 children to Princes Risborough Library. They had a great time and the library will be displaying a selection of the work produced so keep your eyes peeled!
Today we saw lots of children and staff wearing red noses, crazy hats, wigs and hair. Thank you to all that donated towards Comic Relief, we will be counting the money and will update you on the total collected.
We will be hosting parent sessions based on "Fun with Numbers" for parent's in Key Stage One and Reception classes. The course is a great opportunity to improve your own skills, learn how we teach maths to the children and the opportunity to work with your own child to improve their numeracy skills. The course runs for 5 weeks and is every Monday 1- 3pm. It is a free course! For more details please speak to either Mrs McCleary or Mrs Bowen.
On Monday we are starting the week with a Rock Steady assembly! Professional musicians will be coming in to perform popular songs and give pupils an inspirational introduction to singing and playing in a band. It’s great fun for everyone and an exciting first taste of the Rocksteady experience, followed by the chance to ask them lots of questions!
We have a taster session for parents and pupils on Thursday starting from 2.45pm to 3.30pm. Our new caterers, DOLCE, will be serving samples of our new menu. We really hope you are able to pop in at some point!
Please remember that school closes next Friday (31st March 2017) at 1.15pm for the Easter break and we all return on Tuesday 18th April 2017. The PTA will be running their Easter fair from 1.15pm so please come along!
Have a lovely fun filled weekend!
