Weekly Update 29/06/2018
We cannot believe the weather this week! It’s been hotter than Brazil!
10 of our Year 5 children took part in ‘The Big Bang’ science day at
Green Park on Monday. Miss Bacon and Mrs Sinclair joined them and said
what a great time was had by all learning about scientific experiments
It’s been Sports Week in school. Every day the children have
participated in a variety of activities alongside professional sports
men and women.
On Monday we welcomed Lydia back to our school. She is the England
Ladies U17 head coach (football). Not only did she answer questions in
assembly she also ran coaching sessions for all of the children.
Throughout the week classes have done the golden mile in the mornings,
tried a fitness course, played basketball, taken part in gymnastics
and had lessons in healthy eating. All children have also enjoyed a
‘flags of the world’ treasure hunt.
On Tuesday we were treated to an assembly and question and answer
session with a light/middleweight boxer. Shafqat Khan is a local chap
who has had much success in the ring. He spoke to the children about
growth mindset, self belief and discipline.
Tuesday and Wednesday also involved lots of racquet sports. We had
visitors from the local tennis centre and all children tried both
tennis and squash.
On Thursday an Olympian specialising in Judo put us through our paces
in the hall. We had a fitness session and watched footage of her

As well as sports we have embraced musical talents this week. There
have been rehearsals for next week's concert in the Church on Monday
and tomorrow’s school fair.
Yesterday we had a music assembly in which children were able to
demonstrate their amazing talents for playing instruments.
On Tuesday our Year 3 children (followed by Year 4 on Thursday)
visited the church. They took part in quizzes and enjoyed
investigating the different areas. Thank you to Mrs Sinclair, David
and Ryan for supporting these visits.
Today your child will have a letter informing them and you of their
class for next academic year. As always we have considered learning
groups, friendships and class suitability when carefully allocating
classes. We are confident that all children will be in the correct
class for them. There is an informal ‘meet the teacher’ drop in on
Monday from4pm-5pm. This is an opportunity to see where your child
will be next year and to meet their new teacher.
Good luck to all of our Year 6 children who are off to their new
destinations next week for their transition days. We know you will be
brilliant and confident.
Following a request from local residents please can you ask your
children to be really careful when cycling around Princes Risborough.
There have been a few near misses.
Please remember that we have an academy inset day on Friday 6th July
and therefore the school will be closed to children.
We hope to see as many of you as possible tomorrow at 12 noon for our
annual school fair. Thank you to our amazing PTA for organising this.
Enjoy a warm weekend.
