Reading in Year 3/4
As 'lockdown' has progressed I have been churning through the novels at home in the evenings and on the weekends. I can see from Bug Club that many of the children have been doing the same which is wonderful to see. On this page you can find some handy resources to take your child's reading further.
https://www.activelearnprimary.co.uk/login.php?c=0 - This is our main hub for reading at home for the children. If you do not have your child's username or password, please let your child's teacher know during your scheduled phone call. (Please be aware that on the 16th May the website will undergo maintenance and your child will need to reenter their details on the device they use.)
http://ukchildrensbooks.co.uk/book-reviews/ - book reviews by subject, useful for parents who might want to hunt down an interesting read for their child.
https://carnegiegreenaway.org.uk/cilip-greenaway-medal-shortlist-2020/ - here is the 2020 shortlist for the prestigious Greenaway medal award. These titles look wonderful.
https://www.thechildrensbookreview.com/ - another hub for book reviews which parents might find useful.
https://toppsta.com/ - as above - with the added bonus of author interviews and videos of readings with some reviews.
Further to this list, we will include some example book review layouts which might inspire your child, as well as reading comprehension tasks for those who want to go even further!
