Statutory Consultation on Proposed Changes to the Admissions Arrangements for 2023-2024
Consultation on proposed changes to the Admissions Arrangements for Princes Risborough Primary School to take effect from the beginning of the academic year 2023 – 2024
Every year the admission authority for all schools and academies are required to review their admission arrangements. The aim is to ensure that the arrangements continue to be appropriate, and that they comply with all the relevant requirements. The admission authority must consult on proposed changes to the admission arrangements.
The admission authority for Princes Risborough Primary School is the Great Learners Trust but the Trust has delegated the admissions authority operation to the Local Governing Board. Between the 3rd December 2021 and the 31st January 2022, the Governing Board is consulting on proposed changes to the school’s admission arrangements which would take effect from the beginning of the academic year 2023 to 2024.
The change proposed is the reduction of our admission number from 45 to 30 which will mean that the school will become a one-form entry school. The reasons that the Board has decided on this course of action are as follows:-
• despite our best attempts to publicise and promote the school in the local community pupil numbers are below 45 in most year groups.
• Admissions numbers have fallen to below 30 for at least the last 4 years
• for a class to be financially viable, there must be at least 25 children in the class. There are currently two year groups in the school which have two classes because there are more than 30 children in the year group and so too many for one class but less than 25 pupils in each class. With a PAN of 45, this has meant that we are constantly running at a financial loss for year groups where there are more than 30 pupils.
• However, it should be noted that the long-term aspiration of the school and the Governing Board is that, if circumstances change, there will be a further consultation this time on increasing the PAN to 60 thus making the school a two-form entry school.
The full proposed admission arrangements can be downloaded below
The Governing Board invites comments on the proposed changes. Please send your comments to Angela Kent, Clerk to the Governing Board, Princes Risborough Primary School, Wellington Avenue, Princes Risborough, HP27 9HY or email email@example.com by the 31st January 2022.

If a space is available they will contact you directly to offer it, and then notify us. If no spaces are currently available your child can be added to the Continued Interest list (waiting list) and the Admissions Team will notify you once a space becomes available.
Where there is an oversubscription the schools admission policy (found under the Policies tab of our website) is applied, and applicants are placed on the waiting list held by County.
