School Uniform
At Princes Risborough Primary School, our appearance is of the utmost importance to us and makes us feel like we belong. This also supports our attitude to learning and helps us develop pride in ourselves. If we take pride in our appearance, then we take pride in our learning and how we behave in all areas of school life.
Our School Council pupils conducted a pupil vote and agreed that Year 5 and 6 pupils would like to wear a tie as part of their compulsory school uniform. Year 3 and 4 pupils decided that wearing a school tie in Lower Key Stage 2 would be optional.

Jewellery The wearing of jewellery in school is not permitted with the exception of one pair of plain studded earrings and a watch (no smart watches). This is to ensure the health and safety of the children. Children are not allowed to wear any jewellery for PE and must be able to remove earrings by themselves. If children are unable to remove their own earrings, please do not allow them to wear them on PE days. Make-Up Children should not be wearing any make-up to school. Nails Children should not be wearing any coloured nail varnish; clear nail varnish is permitted. Children should not wear any glue-on or acrylic nails as this is a health and safety risk, particularly for PE lessons. |
Hair and Accessories We expect hair styles to be presentable and smart without being too extreme. Extreme hair styles and dyed hair are not permitted. Long hair must be tied back for PE. During lesson time, hair should also be tied back so as not to hinder learning. Accessories, such as headbands, need to be sensible in appearance and size; they can be black, red or white. |
We recognise that appropriate adaptions may be needed for children with sensory needs. Appropriate adaptations to a child’s uniform can be made in consultation with the school team.
We encourage children of all ages to be independent and responsible for their own belongings. However, we are aware that this is not always easy. Therefore, please ensure that all uniform, including PE kit and PE bags, is clearly labelled. Without this, it is almost impossible to return uniform to the correct child.
We use PL Schoolwear to provide our customised school uniform. Other generic uniform such as grey trousers, skirts and shirts can be purchased from various outlets.
