Intent

At Princes Risborough Primary School, we want to inspire children to be curious and creative thinkers who develop their knowledge of local and national history and the history of the wider world. We aim to make pupils life-long History learners with the confidence to think critically, ask questions and be able to explain and analyse historical evidence. Our pupils will be able to place themselves in history and understand how history has, and is, shaping their life, their world and how their past and present could affect the future.

We aim to build an awareness of significant events and individuals in global, British and local history and recognise how things have changed over time. Over time, our pupils will appreciate the complexity of people’s lives, the diversity of societies and the relationships between different groups. They will appreciate the many reasons why people may behave in the way they do, supporting our pupils to develop empathy for others while providing an opportunity to learn from mankind’s past mistakes.
