School Times and Term Dates

Please follow the links below to see term time dates for the current year.

The school is open for 33 hours and 15 minutes each week. The school day starts at 8.45am and finishes at 2.50pm (Reception), 3.00pm (Key Stage 1) and 3.05pm (Key Stage 2).

The school gates open at 8.30am and children can start making their way into the classrooms for their 'soft start' activities. The teacher will have set up early morning activities such as learning times tables, practising handwriting, responding to marking comments and reviewing the previous day’s work. This will allow for a more settled start to the morning.

Registration is at 8.45am.

At 8.40am, the gates are closed and registration is taken at 8.45am. All children who arrive after this time need to go in through the main entrance. This will be recorded as a late on the register.

Morning playtimes

There is a 15-minute morning playtime for children in Key Stage 1 (10.00am) and Key Stage 2 (11.00am). All the children have a morning break and can enjoy a healthy snack to eat during this time. The children are encouraged to play a variety of games.  We have various activities to keep pupils active during playtimes and therefore we ask that children do not bring in toys or games from home.

Lunchtimes

All the children have a lunch break between 11.30am and 1.00pm. This is staggered to allow all children eat their lunch in the dining hall. They are encouraged to be social whilst eating. All classes are given at least 15 minutes to eat their lunch although some children may need longer to finish. All children are encouraged to tidy their eating areas after lunch.

During lunchtime play, different options are available for the children. There are benches available for quieter activities and play, as well as areas for playing football and basketball. The children can also use the trim trail and large school field during dry weather.

Drop-off and collection

At the beginning of the school day, parents are asked to drop their children off at the relevant gate depending on the age of the child or at the drop-off zone if arriving by car. At the end of the school day, Reception children should be collected from the Reception gate and all other children from the Key Stage 2 playground. If normal arrangements have to be altered (e.g. you are delayed or another person is collecting your child) please ensure you let us know in line with our safeguarding procedures.

Getting to school

To get to and from school, walking is definitely the best option! There are lots of benefits: it’s healthier than travelling by car, it improves the safety of pedestrians and road users, and it respects nearby residents and parking regulations. Alternatively, we have bike and scooter racks available. If you do need to travel by car, please use the designated drop-off zone at the front of the school.

If your child is going to walk to or from school on their own then we ask you to email the school so that we can make a note of this arrangement. Without parent permission we cannot allow a pupil to walk home alone.

Assemblies

All children take part in a daily assembly.

Monday: This is the theme assembly for the week and is usually led by Mrs Howlett or Mrs Mill-Brown.

Tuesdays to Thursdays: These are class assemblies which may focus on the theme of the week, our school values or PSHE-themed discussions.

Friday: This is our celebration assembly. This is a time when we reflect on all our learning and experiences over the past week and celebrate the successes of others.
