Preschool Session Timetable

Children enter the setting and are encouraged to hang their coats on their named peg. Children find their names to self-register

Group registration time; children are encouraged to say good morning (+ sign language), discuss the days of the week, weather, counting of the children

Free flow play inside and out, self-selecting activities: painting, junk modelling, water play, sand play, play dough, role-play, book corner, outdoor physical play and a variety of table top activities that develop knowledge in writing skills, letters, numbers, shapes and ICT skills

Snack; available between 10 and 11.00am. Children find their named snack card and wash their hands. They pour their own drink (milk/water) and help to prepare fruits and vegetables to eat.  Snack time provides opportunity to talk about healthy eating and to eat socially in small groups

Key person time (weekly adult led activity)

Butterfly session (4+ only) 15-20 minute adult led sessions helping children to further develop skills they will need in readiness for school, i.e. concentrating on an assigned task, group challenges

Tambourine is shaken. Children help tidy up before sitting as a group on the mat.

11.45 - 12.00pm

Home time for children not staying until 3pm.

12.00 - 1.15pm  

Children wash their hands and eat their packed lunch together. This provides opportunity to talk about healthy eating and to eat socially in a group
