Welcome to Princes Risborough Primary School

A very warm welcome to our school. I hope you find our website informative and useful. Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions that you will make and hopefully the information you find here will help you with that decision. I am sure that our website will give you a good insight into all the exciting things happening at our school, whilst also providing important information for parents, pupils and the wider community.

I am incredibly proud to be the Headteacher at Princes Risborough Primary School. We have a wonderful team of pupils, staff, parents, governors and members of the wider community with whom I thoroughly enjoy working. We all strive to do the very best for every child in our care. I became the substantive Headteacher in January 2020 and the school has undergone significant changes over the last few years, resulting in a vastly improved curriculum offer and improving pupil outcomes. We were delighted to be judged as 'Good' in all areas of our recent Ofsted inspection in October 2023. Even through challenging Covid times, we have worked together effectively as a school community and continued to focus on our school improvement journey, always placing the pupils at the heart of all that we do.

Our vision is to be a continually improving school in which children are safe, supported and successful.  We will equip all pupils to be self-motivated, inquisitive, resilient and ambitious for their own futures. All members of the school community will be involved, invested and inclusive of each other. We will build a whole school community of lifelong learners, committed to making a difference both at school and beyond in the wider world.

We aim to ensure both high levels of academic achievement and progress and also the development of our children as individuals. We want them to leave fully prepared for life beyond Princes Risborough Primary School where they can continue to make a positive contribution to society. Our values of ‘Perseverance, Respect, Possibilities and Sharing’ underpin all that we do as a school and what we stand for.

Each and every member of staff at our school works incredibly hard to help and encourage every child to be the very best version of themselves. Our rich and engaging curriculum, our emphasis on Growth Mindset and our desire to constantly want to improve all aim to ensure that our children reach their potential academically and also morally and spiritually as kind, caring and respectful individuals.

Princes Risborough Primary School has been an academy of the Great Learners Trust since January 2017. The Trust, which was established in 2014, is a local multi-academy trust specialising in primary education based in Buckinghamshire.  The aim of the Trust is to provide local, responsive, practical and strategic support for all partner schools (Great Missenden, Bedgrove Juniors, Wooburn Green, Bearbrook Combined, Elmhurst, Great Kimble, West Wycombe and Manor Farm Junior School). As an academy of the Great Learners Trust, we enjoy being an outward facing school and recognise the importance of working collaboratively with other schools and learning from each other.

We also engage closely with other local schools through the 'Side by Side' project led by Buckinghamshire Council and we enjoy working with our local liaison group of schools in the area.

Princes Risborough Primary School is a well-resourced primary school with a very committed team of staff, supportive Local Governing Board and an active PTA.  We have specialist teachers for PE and Modern Foreign Languages and offer the children a broad and balanced curriculum which is further enriched with our many trips, visitors and residential experiences.  All our classrooms are equipped with up to date ICT equipment. We also have class sets of laptops and IPADs for the children to use and a well-stocked library which we continue to invest in regularly.

The school is located in the heart of the Chiltern Hills and is just a short distance from Whiteleaf Hill and the surrounding woodland. As you will see from the photos above, we are incredibly fortunate to have such a beautiful backdrop, as well as fantastic school grounds which are vast and provide a whole host of different opportunities for outdoor learning.

Close partnership with parents is crucial to the successful education of all of our children and we strongly encourage parents to communicate directly with the school at every opportunity. We regularly invite parents in to school for our open events, assemblies and workshops.  We communicate regularly with parents via email, our school website, our weekly newsletter and our social media accounts.

Please visit our ‘Testimonials’ section of the website to see what all members of our school community are saying about our wonderful school!

We hope that you enjoy your visit to our school website and that you find the information you are looking for. We operate an 'open door' policy and welcome current parents, potential parents or any other visitors to come and see the school in action at any time. Please do not hesitate to contact the school office if you have any questions about the school.

We look forward to welcoming you very soon.

Mrs Amy Howlett
